DENVER — Denver Zoo announced Friday it will donate $5,000 to help support relief operations for devastating bushfires sweeping Australia, and will match up to $5,000 in additional donations through its Field Conservation Fund.
The money will aid Zoos Victoria, which has animal care and health experts in the field working to rescue wildlife, and to provide critical care, food, and water to injured animals.
Denver Zoo said it is closely monitoring the situation in Australia and will evaluate othe ways it can help in the future, including possibly sending staff to assist.
