Death investigation at Otis Park in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a homicide, after finding a male body at Otis Park in the Knob Hill area.

According to police, officers responded to a suspicious death just before 8:30 am after City Park employees found the body. The male reportedly suffered traumatic injuries either before or after their death.

The victim was later identified as 37-year-old Mitchell Arellano of Colorado Springs

The park is at the corner of Monument and Sunset Rd., which remained closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. The police say that the cause of death will be determined by the coroner’s office, but there were reports of shots being fired in the area around the believed time of death.
