Motorcyclist killed in N. Academy crash

COLORADO SPRINGS — Springs police say a man has died following a crash in the northbound lanes of N. Academy Boulevard between Palmer Park and San Miguel.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday when, according to police, the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a curb. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The northbound lanes of N. Academy were closed in the area during the investigation, but they have since reopened.

This death marks the 25th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2019. There had been 26 traffic deaths in the city at this time last year.
