COLORADO SPRINGS — Honors on Friday for two Colorado Springs police officers. Sergeant Larry Morgan and Officer Alexis Falcon received the Bill Daniels "True Blue Award" for going above and beyond in the line of duty.
Officer Falcon was honored for buying a car seat with his own money for a couple that didn't have one and Sergeant Morgan arranged for the care of four children whose parents were killed in a car crash.
"They knew that someone cared for them and that there was someone there for them, someone who could help them through this traumatic time."
The True Blue Award is named in honor of Bill Daniels, a decorated naval fighter pilot who served in World War II and Korea. It is presented to those who place their lives on the line in service to others, as well as for those who go out of their way to help people in their communities.
Since 2000, the Bill Daniels Fund has distributed more than %547 million in grants and scholarship money across Colorado.
