PUEBLO — Colorado State University Pueblo wants to make the college experience more affordable with a new initiative making textbooks free for students.
CSU-Pueblo is set to receive $51,000 from the state this year to make that happen.
It's part of the university's Open Education program, which provides online textbooks, software, videos, and other resources to help students.
"I would like students to be able to know that when they come here typically most classes that they walk into the textbooks that they use will be one of these free OER textbooks," said Associate Professor Jonathan Poritz.
CSU-P said it hopes to save its students nearly $1 million in textbook costs by 2021 through this program.
