COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department located an individual involved in a 'stranger danger' incident through multiple tips.

CSPD initially released information Wednesday regarding a 'stranger danger' incident that occurred Tuesday night.

According to CSPD, a man in a maroon pickup truck with a maroon topper approached a child who was playing outside in the 8300 block of Winding Passage Drive.

The man commented about how cold it was and said the female child could "stay warm" inside of his vehicle, CSPD said.

The child yelled "no" and immediately went back into her house.

Officers said Thursday that the person was a near-by neighbor who "genuinely believed the young girl was locked out of her home."

After their investigation, officers said the person was fully cooperative and that they do not believe there was any ill-intent or an immediate threat to the community.

CSPD said this can serve as a reminder to all to educate their children on stranger danger.
