COLORADO SPRINGS — This past Sunday, Colorado Springs Police officers responded to Mazatlan Circle for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult male with a gunshot wound. Homicide detectives then responded to the scene.
Police said that while this scene was being investigated, another report came in of a dead man on Ellston St., under the I-25 overpass. A different team of Homicide detectives responded to this scene.
Wednesday, police reported that based on the independent investigations conducted by detectives, there is evidence to support that the investigations are related.
Tuesday, the El Paso County Coroner's Office completed autopsies on the two deceased men.
According to Police, the victim found on Mazatlan Circle has been identified as 23-year-old Kashaun Antonion of Colorado Springs. The victim found on Ellston, under the I-25 overpass, has been identified as 21-year-old Jamil A. Hopper of Colorado Springs.
CSPD said the investigation into these incidents is active and no further information will be released at this time. Anyone with information or who is a witness to this investigation is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000.
