COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department has wrapped up the first year of its speed enforcement campaign Monday.
"Slow Down, Colorado Springs!" began last October by the department after receiving a grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Through this effort, officers were able to:
- Have 1,008 additional hours of dedicated speed enforcement
- Issue 2,399 traffic citations
- Cite 2,758 traffic violations
The department said a second year of the "Slow Down, Colorado Springs" will begin Tuesday and go through September 2020.
CSPD said this measure is in an effort to reduce car accidents in Colorado Springs as well as holding drivers accountable.
