Suspect from deadly hit & run turns himself in

COLORADO SPRINGS — Update: 6/11/20 2:30 p.m.

According to CSPD, the suspect in a deadly hit & run accident, that happened on June 2nd near the intersection of Village Road South and N. Academy Blvd, has turned himself in.

40-year-old Michael J. Estrada of Colorado Springs was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, a class three felony offense.

He was booked in the El Paso County Jail on June 10th after an arrest warrant was issued.

Estrada's vehicle was also identified as a 2011 black Toyota Camry.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday night, CSPD was notified of an auto/pedestrian accident near the intersection of Village Road South and N. Academy Blvd.

CSPD said when officers arrived, they located a deceased pedestrian.

Police said the vehicle fled north on N. Academy Blvd. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark colored sedan with heavy front end damage.
