COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police are working to learn what led to a crash early Thursday morning on Interstate 25.
Officers were called to southbound I-25 at the Tejon Street. exit just after 1 a.m. and found a driver had been ejected from a pickup truck.
First responders from Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived to provide life-saving care before the driver, a 43-year-old man, was taken to the hospital, where he passed away.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Investigators say they do not know if impairment was a factor in the crash.
The Major Crash Team is investigating.
This is the 29th traffic death in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year there were 30 traffic deaths in the city.
