CSPD investigating shooting and carjacking, crimes possibly related

COLORADO SPRINGS — Just after 10 a.m. Saturday, Colorado Springs Police responded to the 3700 block of Westmeadow Dr. for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound and immediately rendered medical aid, CSPD said.

The man was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said that at approximately the same time, there was a carjacking reported just east of the shooting, in the 3700 block of Penny Point.

In this incident, a male suspect stole a black Dodge Journey with Colorado license plate, 237-WKQ.

Colorado Springs Police said the two incidents are being investigated independently to determine if they are related.

Another carjacking and shooting was reported in Downtown Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon.

Just before 3;45 officers were called to the 200 block of South Wahsatch for a shooting.

When officers arrived they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

During the course of that investigation officers received reports of a male suspect shooting at cars in the area of South Wahsatch Avenue and East Costilla Street.

That suspect also reportedly stole a green Buick LeSabre with Colorado license plate, 350-UOM.
