COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs police have identified the woman killed in an auto-pedestrian accident Friday night.

At 10:31 p.m. March 20, officers responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the 600 block of Winters Drive.

According to Colorado Springs police, 42-year-old Shanna A. Luther of Colorado Springs, was walking westbound on Winters Drive in the lane of traffic when she was struck by a westbound Acura sedan

Luther was transported to a local hospital where she later died. Police said the driver of the Acura remained on the scene and was uninjured.

It does not appear speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash at this time.

No charges have been filed and the investigation into this incident is ongoing.

This is the first pedestrian fatality and fourth overall traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2020. At this time last year, there were nine traffic fatalities in the city.
