COLORADO SPRINGS — Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night, Colorado Springs Police responded to Westmeadow Drive on the south end of the city for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man inside a home with a gunshot wound. CSPD medical personnel responded but the victim succumbed to his injury.
Detectives responded to the scene and learned that an acquaintance of the victim was handling a gun inside the home when the gun discharged and struck the victim.
CSPD has identified the acquaintance as 22-year-old William Garcia (seen above). He was placed into custody and charged with Manslaughter.
CSPD said that while the El Paso County Coroner conducts an examination to make the final determination of the cause and manner of death, the case is being investigated as a homicide and continues to be an active investigation.
