COLORADO SPRINGS — Some extremely important but rarely talked about members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department have received a generous donation from a local business.

The department's volunteer chaplains are getting a new four-wheel-drive vehicle thanks to Day Lily Salon and Spa, which raised more than $5,400 for the Fire Foundation of Colorado Springs.

CSFD has five volunteer chaplains who support families in crises and firefighters after they have experienced especially traumatic calls.

"We wanted to get behind the chaplains, for me personally, I feel that they represent the best of humanity. They go out on the worst of the worst calls, rain, sleet, snow, all the things, and they're there when something happens to your family members to be support for you and they also take a lot of time to support our local firefighters," Niki Cikak, co-owner of Day Lily said.
