COLORADO SPRINGS — On Friday, the Colorado Springs Fire Department graduated 27 new firefighters into the force, with new COVID-19 restrictions.

Family members watched the graduation from their cars in the parking lot of Heart of the Springs church, and listened to the ceremony on an FM frequency, due to the threat of the coronavirus.

''We consolidated all the classes, put them online using an online platform," explained CSFD Battalion Chief Justin White. "They worked from home. They checked in every day. They did physical fitness. They did their classes. They did tests.''

The is the first class of the year to graduate.
