COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Fire Department donates a refurbished fire truck to their counterparts from a Mexico sister city.
Firefighters from Nuevo Casas Grandes have been in Colorado Springs over the past week for training.
A Class 1 pumper truck built in 1993 will replace an older truck that was given to the Mexican fire department years ago.
''We've had a great experience here with our brother firefighters here in Colorado Springs," says Nuevo Casas Grandes Fire Chief Christian Ontiuveros. "and we take this knowledge to our partners in Mexico to do a better job."
Nuevo Casas Grandes has 26 firefighters serving a community of 70,000 people. CSFD Fire Chief Ted Collas was given a special plaque to commemorate the department's efforts.
