COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Fire Department said the house fire on the southeast side of Colorado Springs was caused by a lightning strike and is now out.
Fire crews were called out to a house on 3410 Mosswood Lane around 4 p.m. on reports of a structure fire.
Authorities tell News 5 two people inside said they heard a loud boom, then the power went out. They called 911 when they started smelling smoke. A witness outside also called 911.
The fire is out and was contained to the attic. Nobody was hurt, but an animal was pulled from the home.
A family of four has been displaced because of the power outage.
