Colorado State Patrols identifies 8 killed in Highway 40 crash

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado State Patrol has identified the 8 people killed in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 40 between Limon and Kit Carson in Cheyenne County on Friday.

The death toll has increased by one following the passing of another on Sunday.

According to troopers, the driver of a Ford F-150 was passing a semi in a passing zone but did not clear out of the opposing lane in time to avoid a collision with a Chevy Silverado.

The Ford caught fire after the impact, killing all four occupants. They've been identified by Colorado State Patrol as:

  • Jian Zhong, 45-year-old male from Aurora, CO (driver)
  • Cathy Zhong, 45-year-old female from Aurora, CO
  • Myoli Zhong, 9-year-old female from Aurora, CO
  • Ren Juntan, 53-year-old male Centennial, CO

The persons in the Chevy Silverado have been identified as:

  • Sammy Henry, 59-year-old male from Liberal, KS (driver)
  • Joshua Henry, 36-year-old male from Sterling, CO
  • Messiah Henry (age not released)
  • Maki Henry, 8-year-old male
