CSPD makes arrest in Murray Blvd. homicide

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police have identified the woman found fatally shot Wednesday morning at a hotel on Murray Blvd.

Officers were called to the Rodeway Inn at 520 North Murray around 8:20 Wednesday morning and found a deceased woman, identified as Rebecca Smith, 27, of Colorado Springs. Officers also found a man with an apparent gunshot wound in the same room. Police have not released his name.

On Dec. 1, CSPD announced that an arrest has been made in this case.

29-year-old Ronald Amon Williams Jr. was arrested on the charge of Murder in the first degree. The arrest warrant was served on Williams on November 30th while he was in custody for unrelated charges at the El Paso County Jail.

Smith's death is the 34th homicide investigation in Colorado Springs in 2020. At this time last year CSPD had investigated 24 homicides.
