PIKES PEAK — Colorado Springs Utilities will be lowering the water levels in Crystal Creek Reservoir on the North Slope of Pikes Peak to perform inspections and maintenance to the dam infrastructure. The crews are making improvements to help meet modern-day standards.

To limit the loss of sign of fish in the lake during this procedure, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife has suspended bag and possession limits in Crystal Creek Reservoir only.

The following rules and regulations will apply:

  • Emergency fish salvage is permitted only at Crystal Creek Reservoir and only during daylight hours.
  • A valid Colorado fishing license is required in accordance with state statutes.
  • Bag and possession limits are suspended for Crystal Creek Reservoir only until this emergency public salvage is lifted.
  • All legal fishing methods are allowed.

The salvage begins immediately and will end on a date deemed necessary by the District Wildlife Manager. The work will continue through next year and the reservoir will be refilled by 2021.

If you have any questions, you can call Colorado Parks and Wildlife at 719-227-5200.
