DENVER (AP) — A Colorado doctor who pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge for secretly filming boys’ medical exams faces between 15 and 30 years in prison, federal authorities said Friday.

Justin Neisler, 31, pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography in federal court on Thursday under a plea deal in which he admitted video recording the exams of five boys — one of them 16 but the others under 12.

According to the plea agreement, the investigation into Neisler started in November 2018 after the Colorado Springs’ police received a tip with information forwarded by Tumblr to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about images uploaded by Neisler to his account on the social networking website.

During a search of his home, investigators say Neisler admitted to secretly recording medical exams while his patients were undressed using a Spy Pen Camera and his iPhone. According to the agreement, he admitted to watching the videos at home for his own sexual gratification and acknowledged that other doctors would probably not think it was appropriate to have boys naked throughout a wellness exams.

Authorities confirmed the videos were not shared online.

In a joint statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI said Neisler’s victims were interviewed and investigators confirmed they were not harmed in any other way by Neisler.

“Thankfully, Dr. Neisler was caught and will never again be in a position to harm children under the guise of helping them,” U.S. Attorney Jason Dunn said in the statement.

State records show Neisler worked at St. Anthony Family Medicine Residency in Westminster and that his medical license was suspended in March 2019 after he was charged. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 22.
