PUEBLO — The City of Pueblo is working to finalize its 20212 budget.

Despite COVID-19, the Mayor remains optimistic for the future.

Mayor Gradisar said there are no layoffs in the first draft of the budget but he is asking each city department to cut 10 percent of their operating budgets.

The city is also anticipating spending about $7 million from its reserves to balance the budget.

"I think the path we took turned out to be the correct one because you know, laying off 25 percent of our workforce would dramatically affect our economy and the City of Pueblo and it turns out that wasn't necessary," Mayor Gradisar said.

The city plans to have the final budget done by early December.
