COLORADO SPRINGS — We want to wish a very happy birthday to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's rhino, Jumbe.
The 2,700 pound gentle giant turned 17-years-old today.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo caretakers caught up with Jumbe in the barn the other day, where he was rolling in the mud, playing in the hay, training with his keepers and searching for his favorite treats, apples and carrots.
Also, a happy birthday to the zoo's okapi, Bahati, who turned 7-years-old today.
Bahati, whose keepers call him Tater Tot, is uniquely affectionate.
While his keepers always practice safety with protective barriers during training, they've noticed Bahati's favorite form of positive reinforcement is a good neck scratch.
