Right now, Colorado is struggling to find snow plow drivers.
CDOT needs about 100 drivers throughout the state to fill full and part-time positions.
The agency said a low unemployment rate is to blame for the shortage.
Despite the lack of drivers, CDOT said it's business as usual.
"There's nothing we can really change, it is what it is, so we have to maintain the roadways, maintain safety on the roadways so we have to do what we can and spread our resources as best we can to keep the roadways open and safe for travelers," a CDOT representative said.
Crews started their shifts Wednesday afternoon, ahead of the storm coming Thursday.
