COLORADO SPRINGS — The vehicle stolen from a carjacking near Memorial Park last night was a suspect vehicle involved in a shooting with Aurora police Wednesday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department.

APD Public Information Officer Crystal McCoy said officers were dispatched near Buckley Air Force Base around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a call about three juveniles, one male and two females, in a maroon SUV checking out homes to possibly burglarize.

Police said the SUV was stolen in a carjacking in Colorado Springs, though they said it wasn't clear if the juveniles were involved in the theft.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said the carjacking took place around 7 p.m. Tuesday when a woman was approached by three young adults near East Kiowa Street and North Logan Avenue.

CSPD said the suspects stole her car at gunpoint, but officers said she was unharmed.

Aurora officers shot at the male suspect Wednesday morning but did not strike him, police said.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and police said they recovered a gun from the vehicle.

APD said the two female suspects are still at large.

Officers described the scene in Aurora as “still active” but added there is no threat to the surrounding community.
