DENVER — Wide receiver Daesean Hamilton is a name Broncos fans have not heard a lot of this season. Sunday however, 64,000 fans were treated to a career day for No. 17 and easily his best performance of 2019.

"I told him before the game that he was going to score a touchdown," Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay said. "It was about his time. Everybody has their time and I've said that before. It doesn't matter if it's the first game, the middle game or the last game of the year. Everybody's going to have their time to shine."

"It's just the opportunity our offense provides," wide receiver Tim Patrick said. "We have a lot of weapons, so one week it could be one guy and the next week it could be someone completely different. He's been getting multiple opportunities throughout the season, but today he got even more."

Coming into the game against the Detroit Lions, Hamilton has 17 catches for 137 yards. However, with Christmas approaching, the second-year wide receiver gift wrapped himself a much-needed present: A breakout game with six catches for a career-high 65 yards and a touchdown.

"Obviously things have been up and down this year," Hamilton said. As long as I stay true to myself, stay true to my teammates, they always keep uplifting me and it's a game I was hoping would have happened a lot earlier."

"The guy is super-duper intelligent," quarterback Drew Lock said. "Him being able to sit up in zones, feel the guys running with him and break off and separate, it makes my life a lot easier as a quarterback and he had a fantastic game today."

With a rookie quarterback slinging the ball to whoever is open, Hamilton needs to continue to build off this performance. The former fourth-round pick and Penn State graduate will have one more shot this season, when the Broncos host the Raiders in their finale next Sunday.
