COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department said an accident involving a truck and bicycle Wednesday morning was caused by the bicyclist.

Police said the bicyclist tried to cross Motor Way at Nevada Avenue at 6 a.m. by going against the traffic signal and going on the crosswalk when it wasn't his turn to go.

CSPD said a truck was turning from northbound South Nevada Avenue onto westbound Motor Way and hit the bicycle in the intersection.

Officers said the rider did not get off their bike before going entering the crosswalk area. The bicyclist did not have a light on the bike and it was dark when the accident happened.

CSPD said the bicyclist had moderate injuries and he was cited for causing the accident.
