COLORADO SPRINGS — A benefit is planned for a man critically injured by a suspected drunk driver this week.

Mike Elmore was struck while unloading equipment from his van along Colorado Ave. on Tuesday. As he recovers from injuries, including a partial leg amputation, a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for his expenses.

Elmore is a well-known local musician who often played at Johnny's Navajo Hogan on Nevada. This Sunday they are inviting community and friends to come help him out as they host a benefit and jam session from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds will help with recovery and medical bills. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The suspected driver in that crash, Tara Struder, was arrested. Records show this is not her first DUI arrest.
