Auto-pedestrian crash leaves one with life-threatening injuries

COLORADO SPRINGS — A woman was seriously injured in a crash along Powers Blvd. that diverted traffic for hours Monday night.

Colorado Springs police tell News5 the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle along southbound Powers on the overpass of Woodmen Around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say the woman stopped in the middle of the Powers Blvd. overpass at Woodmen Rd. to pick up boxes that fell out of a truck ahead of her in traffic. During that time another vehicle came along, smashed into her car, which then struck and seriously injured the woman.

She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

All southbound lanes of Powers Blvd were shutdown between Research Pkwy and Woodmen Rd because of the crash.

Colorado Springs police say speed and impairment aren't suspected in the crash.
