JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested a man caught on camera impersonating a police officer and motioning for the victim to pull over.

Authorities say 50-year-old Michael Nelson flashed a fake badge Tuesday in an attempt to pull someone over.

Deputies posted a video Wednesday recorded from the victim's vehicle when Nelson was impersonating an officer.

JCSO said Nelson was charged with impersonating a peace officer and false imprisonment.

If you're in a situation where you are questioning a traffic stop, the Sheriff's Office said you can contact 911 and they can help figure out whether it is legitimate.
