Pueblo Police identify suspect in fatal stabbing

PUEBLO — The Pueblo County Coroner has identified the man killed in the city's first homicide this year after a stabbing in an apartment complex Sunday night.

PPD said officers arrived at the Pueblo Village Apartments around 5:30 p.m. and found the man bleeding on the living room floor of an apartment.

Police said the victim, 31-year-old Buck Chavez, was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.

Tuesday, police said they have narrowed their suspect list to one man. That man is 56-year-old Conrad Montez.

Police sais he has not been arrested at this time, but they are no longer searching for other suspects.

PPD said this is the first homicide in Pueblo this year and that the man's death remains under investigation.
