SECURITY — A 12-year-old was honored Friday for his ability to stay calm under pressure.

Andrew Gravil was surprised with a 911 Hero Award and a tour of Fire Station One in Security.

In January a fight broke out between two dogs in his home.

Andrew's grandmother stepped in to break up the fight, and the dogs attacked her.

Andrew calmly called 911 and provided clear, accurate information to dispatch.

"I was a little bit scared because I just heard that my Granny's finger got bit off," Andrew said.

Andrew said his grandmother is doing fine now.

He and a twin brother are home-schooled. He credits his parents with teaching him what to do in an emergency.
