PUEBLO — An 8-year-old boy died Thursday following a serious crash in Pueblo, according to the Pueblo Police Department.
The Pueblo County Coroner identified the boy as Eric "Mikey" Maciel Jr., who was ejected due to the impact. The department responded to the crash at the intersection of Northern Avenue and Santa Fe Drive around 5 p.m.
Police said the boy was in the car with his mother traveling westbound on Santa Fe Drive and turning onto Northern Avenue when it struck an SUV heading eastbound. The boy was ejected in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Eric's mother and the driver of the other vehicle had minor injuries. The police department said speed, drugs and alcohol are not apparent factors of the crash.
