COLORADO SPRINGS — A 57-year old man is facing charges for Sexual Assault and Unlawful Sexual Contact after several women reported that he sexually assaulted them.
On September 5th, the Colorado Springs Police Department Special Victim’s Section arrested Richard Ortega. CSPD detectives first learned of Ortega on May 30th, the women claimed that they were assaulted during what Ortega purported as “holistic healing sessions.”
Detectives were able to contact additional victims and gathered enough information to arrest the man. It's believed Ortega met most of his victims through events and community groups associated with the Native American community, and often identified himself as a “Native American shaman.”
Since Ortega’s arrest earlier this month, detectives have worked diligently to identify all of his potential victims; however, there is still a possibility there may be more.
