36-year-old woman identified in homicide investigation in northeast Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — On Friday, May 29, 2020, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of a 36-year-old woman found in Colorado Springs after a shooting took place around 1:10 a.m.

The female was identified as 36-year-old Samantha Morgan of Colorado Springs. Ms. Morgan’s death is the 20th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2020. The Colorado Springs Police Department investigated seven homicides at this time last year.

When officers first arrived at the hospital they found a woman with a life-threatening injury. She later died from her injuries.

Others who were in the vehicle with her told officers the shooting took place in a parking lot near 4600 Hinsdale Way. Other officers went to the area and found evidence.
