25th annual Chile & Frijoles Festival returns to Pueblo this weekend

PUEBLO — If you didn't already have plans this weekend, you do now! The annual Chile & Frijoles Festival returns to Pueblo for its 25th year.

The festival is one of the biggest events every year in the Steel City. It celebrates the chile harvest with events, vendors, live music and fun food competitions and averages 140,000 attendees over the three days.

It starts Friday, Sept. 20, and goes through the weekend on Union Avenue Historic District.

Activities include a chili and salsa showdown, a jalapeno eating contest, 180 street vendors, and a farmers market.

There will be a free shuttle service available.

Friday, Sept. 20: 3 p.m. to midnight

Saturday, Sept 21: 10 a.m. to midnight
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: PCC Culinary program presents the Chile Academy recipe demonstrations at Credit Union of Colorado tent
- 2 p.m. & 6 p.m.: Don’t Forget the Frijole Bean Spitting Contest at Rusler Produce Farmers Market
- 3 p.m.: Chihuahua Parade at TBK Bank – C St.

Sunday, Sept. 22: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: PCC Culinary program presents the Chile Academy recipe demonstrations at Credit Union of Colorado tent
- 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.: Don’t Forget the Frijole Bean Spitting Contest at Rusler Produce Farmers Market
- 4 p.m.: Jalapeno Eating Contest

Ticket Prices:

$5 for a single day admission ticket
$12 for a three-day pass
$30 for ME+three-day pass
Children 12 and under get in for free as well as active duty military with ID
