EL PASO COUNTY — The biggest fundraiser for El Paso County Search and Rescue is almost here.
The New Year's Day tradition of their Rescue Race Run kicks off in Palmer Park on January 1 at 10 a.m and it features a 5k and 10k race.
Search and Rescue helps citizens from top of Pikes Peak to the Eastern Plains. The money raise from the race goes to keep us all safe.
"It goes for our operational costs. So we have several tracked vehicles, we have a fleet of vehicles, so things like fuel, equipment, not personal equipment, but a lot of our equipment," said Teresa Taylor with El Paso County Search and Rescue.
You can register online or in person until the day of the race. Fees start at $30 and about 1,000 runners are expected to be in the race.
