Reported shooting at on-post house being investigated on Fort Carson

COLORADO SPRINGS – A reported shooting at an on-post house is being investigated on Fort Carson.

According to the Mountain Post, Special Agents from the Army Criminal Investigation Command and military police are investigating the incident, which was reported near the post exchange at approximately 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.

This is not an active shooter situation but is the result of an altercation inside a home on post, a press release said.

The release from the post said there is no further danger to the community, but as a precautionary measure, access to the Fort Carson AAFES Main Exchange has been temporarily restricted. Personnel are advised to avoid the area until further notice.

One person with non-life-threatening injuries was transported to an off-post medical facility.

The Mountain Post said this an on-going investigation and no further information will be released in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Fort Carson is home to the 4th Infantry Division and subordinate units. Known as ‘The Mountain Post’ it is located just south of Colorado Springs in southern El Paso County.
