El Paso County offering job skills training to fill open positions

Getting people off of public assistance in El Paso County and in to a full time job is the focus of a new program being run by the county’s Department Of Human Services.

They county agency is running a program to provide it’s clients with new job skills as they work to fill job openings in the country. Initially, this will allow those who qualify to participate in the six week training program and then move them in to job vacancies within the Department of Human Services. Program leaders tell News5 that if the program proves to successful, they will expand to other job openings across the county in different departments.

The bottom line, get them off assistance to a productive county employee. Andrew Bunn with Adult and Family Services told News5 that ”Through subsidized employment, to build job skills so they can transition into paid
employment, preferably with the county if possible.”

If you are currently on public assistance with the county, you qualify for this program. You need to contact the Department of Human Services for more information.
