PUEBLO – First responders want to stay ahead of emergencies at schools in Pueblo.

Through a state grant, Pueblo City Schools and the police department are putting in radios at every school in District 60. This is in case of an emergency, like a school shooting, if it happens inside the school.

“The first few minutes of any major incident that happens in a school, the information that we can receive from people within that building is extremely valuable, whether it is description or location or what exactly is happening,” Pueblo Police Sgt. Dennis Furbush said.

All Pueblo City Schools should have emergency radios by the start of the next school year.
