DOUGLAS COUNTY – Formal charges for the two suspects in the shooting last week at the STEM School in Highlands are expected to be announced in a Douglas County court Wednesday.

18-year-old Devon Erickson and a 16-year-old suspect both made initial court appearances last week.

Erickson is being held without bond and was booked on 30 counts, including first-degree murder and 29 of attempted first-degree murder.

Funeral services for Kendrick Castillo, the lone student who died in the attack, are also scheduled for Wednesday. Castillo tackled one of the gunmen and was mortally wounded. He likely saved the lives of many other students.

All of the students who were hurt in the shooting are now out of the hospital.
