PUEBLO – The weather is getting warmer, which means it’s farming season for your hottest and sweetest crops. Farmers have started planting Pueblo Chile and Rocky Ford Melons.

“Well this time of the year is very exciting. I mean it is kind of the kick off to the farm season for us, basically getting all the Chile in the ground, as far as the transplants, and we are very happy about it,” said Rocky Musso with Musso Farms.

When it comes to Rocky Ford Melons, Michael Hirakata with Hirakata Farms said their melons are known for their characteristically sweet and juicy taste.

“Our melons are extremely important to Rocky Ford because that is what we are known for. It gives us our character and it gives us our identity it seems like,” said Hirakata.

Farmers say you should see the Chiles and Melons at your stores and markets by July.
