Two suspects arrested for deadly assault in Manitou

MANITOU SPRINGS – Two men face charges after a reported assault Thursday in Manitou Springs turned deadly.

Officers called to an apartment at 601 Manitou Ave. just before 12:30 a.m. found an unresponsive male victim in a kiddie pool full of water.

The victim was taken to Memorial Central with life-threatening injuries, and died around 3 p.m. Officers have not yet released the victim’s name.

Two men were arrested this morning for the attack. Freddie Joseph Crespo, 33, and John Robert Swinehart, 25, both face First Degree Murder and Assault charges.

MSPD detectives say there is no reason to believe there is a further threat to the public, but the investigation is ongoing.
