Colorado Springs Girl Scouts celebrate earning Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.

COLORADO SPRINGS – More than 75 Girl Scouts, along with their friends and family, celebrated earning the highest awards in the organization Friday.

Girl Scouts of Colorado honored this year’s Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award Girl Scouts at a ceremony at the Penrose Garden House Pavilion.

Girl Scout Awards

The Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouting. The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn, and the Bronze Award is the highest award for a Girl Scout Junior.

All three awards include completing a project to meet a community need. As part of the project, Scouts must identify and research a community issue, and develop a plan to address it, while cooperating with community members, making a connection with others, and providing sustainability for the project.

The projects teach skills including leadership, organization, and critical thinking, which are also the fundamentals of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
