DENVER – Two Southern Colorado law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty were honored Friday during a ceremony on the grounds of the State Patrol Academy in Denver.

The names of El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Micah Flick and Las Animas County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Moreno will be added to the memorial wall.

Moreno was hit head-on by a suspected drunk driver, and Flick died in a shootout with an auto theft suspect.

The ceremony also honored Adams County Sheriff Heath Gumm and Littleton Police Officer Kevin Denner.

The annual ceremony honors the brave men and women of law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
