Horses seized in animal neglect case in El Paso County

EL PASO COUNTY – Deputies in El Paso County seized two horses as part of an ongoing animal neglect investigation.

On Tuesday, April 30, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Rural Enforcement and Outreach Unit served a search warrant in the 23000 block of McDaniel’s Road.

During that search, deputies seized two horses due to lack of care and malnourishment. One of the horses had severely split front hooves that required veterinary care.

The horses are currently being held at an ASPCA approved boarding facility. There were no other animals on the property.

The owner of the horses, Jessica Mier, faces two misdemeanor counts of Animal Neglect. She surrendered the horses to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
