By calling 811 before doing any digging, utilities workers will come to your property to mark any underground lines 72 hours before any digging is done.
The reason is because shovels can easy cut through utility lines and that can not only be a costly mistake, some underground lines can also be dangerous.
Calling 811 is a free service and it is the law. Anyone who doesn’t ask for help locating underground lines can be held responsible for the cost to make any repairs.
