Two teens arrested after police officer was fired upon

COLORADO SPRINGS – Two teenagers face Attempted Murder charges after shots were fired at a Colorado Springs Police officer.

During the evening of March 26 and early morning of March 27, CSPD patrol officers were called to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of Fountain Blvd. and S. Chelton Road.

While officers were checking the area they said they hard a shot fired near Fountain and S. Murray. Officers then saw an SUV driving erratically and making evasive maneuvers as they approached.

An officer then reported seeing that SUV approach at a high speed. As the vehicle passed the officer in his marked patrol car, the officer said it swerved and a passenger inside shot at the officer and the vehicle took off. The officer was not hurt, but a shell casing was found in the area.

On Monday, April 15, detectives from CSPD’s Homicide/Assault Unit arrested two male teens, aged 14 and 15.

Because both suspects are under 18 their names and photographs are not currently available.
