PUEBLO – Despite the school threats being in Denver yesterday and today, schools in the city and county of Pueblo were not going to take any chances.

Pueblo D60, with the help of Pueblo Police, put its school on secure perimeter Wednesday, which means doors were locked, students weren’t allowed off campus, and extra patrols watched the schools.

“Just to be safe, it is one of those things where it is better to overdo it than underdo it when it comes to safety,” said Sg. Franklyn Ortega. “We want to make sure the students and the facilities for D60 are secure.”

Pueblo D70, with the help of the Sheriff’s Office, did the same thing. The superintendent said if a person didn’t have a scheduled appointment, they were not allowed past the front door.
