COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs police say a suspect committed suicide following a standoff in Old Colorado City Wednesday morning.
Police responded to the area around 27th Street and Colorado Avenue on a shots fired call earlier this morning, and found a suspect barricaded in the area. Later in the morning, police said the suspect fired more shots, prompting a heavy response.
Officers shut down Colorado Avenue between 26th and 28th Street because of the police response, and the situation forced the University School to close for the day. Colorado Avenue is back open.
Police have not released any information about the suspect or what the person was wanted for at this time.
